VINYL.

So, while I was over at Gawyn’s house, beating him effortlessly at Fifa 13, a game that I haven’t planned in 4 years by the way. He was showing me his vinyl collection and he produced a pink Drive soundtrack vinyl, which I was in ore of. I figured why not make a short film documentary type thing to get some extra practise in before we start filming our full documentaries in a couple of weeks. This is the result of what we produced. Leave feedback on Vimeo or YouTube if you don’t have a wordpress account it would be appreciated. This was recorded on a Canon 550d (T2i) with a 50mm f/1.8 lens and I shot in 1280×720 @ 59.94 fps so I could get some smooth slow motion. I used an after effect plugin called twixtor to slow down some of the footage to ½ speed.

I hope you enjoyed leave feedback and questions on either YouTube [ http://youtu.be/zRJCAfPUPRg ] or Vimeo [ https://vimeo.com/61306491 ] because I know not many people will have WordPress accounts to leave feedback here.

Flashback #3 – I went to the Olympics for free

So, on our final day of college we were all given free tickets to the London Olympics being held over summer. This was due to us doing crappy stop frame animations that I won’t do you the displeasure of sharing. The upside to the project is obviously getting the tickets and an all day travel card but also the opportunity to do some filming. I decided to take my 50mm f/1.8 lens, which in hindsight wasn’t the best idea. Even though with was brilliant at getting good night shots a lot of the shoots were out of focus. Also a lot of the footage was shot while we were walking around the Olympic park / village area which made it quite shaky which I tried to fix in post. Speaking if editing even though it’s a modern time and video, I wanted to create a retro feel. I did this by using an old school song and adding some purple vibrant but washed out colour grading as well as some film grain for good measure. A big feature is I synced the footage the soundtracks snare drum with jump cuts. I think it keeps the visuals interesting and flow better. I did this mainly for the memories.

LONDON OLYMPICS 2012 from Emil Nweje on Vimeo.

Kitten CC’ed 2.

So, I made it. Literally woke and started making this. This video was really fun to make not only because of the stylish cinematography but also because I made the soundtrack using my limited logic pro 9 skills. I feel more proud of the video because all of it is my work. Originally I wanted this to have a mix of normal shots and slow motion shots but the shots I have aren’t the best and I would like to get better ones with a tripod maybe. I going home for Easter and I will be using my camera a lot during that time because I’m making a documentary, so I will squeeze in some cat time 😉 I will hopefully make a more developed version of the soundtrack for kitten cc’ed 3 once I learn a bit more about logic.

Just some general info about the video and equipment used for those who will ask. I used a Canon 550d (T2i) with a 50mm f/1.8 lens and I shot in both 1280×720 @ 59.94 fps and 1920×1080 @ 29.97 fps.

I hope you enjoyed leave feedback on either YouTube [http://youtu.be/pJJuDPv7E7M] or Vimeo [https://vimeo.com/60332748] because I know not many people will have WordPress accounts to leave feedback here.

Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed and part 3 after I do my documentary!
