Is Nightcall replaceable?

So, at the beginning 2013 after a lovely Christmas break and getting a brand spanking new MacBook pro for work purposes. I went ahead and acquired logic pro which is a music production software exclusive to Mac OS. Fortunately when I did go make to University we had a sound module lined up to teach me a few of the basics of logic and some other areas of sound within and as a form of media arts. The module was broken up into 3 sections. We had Music for 1 week, Sonic Arts for 1 week and Foley for 1 week.

Music was obviously music production and we did some exercises that would help us learn logic. We firstly had an introduction and a basic tutorial on logic. Then we went out and recorded some sounds in different sound spaces and objects. Finally we came back and tried to make a musical piece from what we recorded.

Next we did Sonic Arts this was mainly about ambient music. We were given presentation on a wide range of sonic arts. We then made cheap contact microphones which we used to record sounds based on vibration of objects like tables, washing machines radiators etc. We then made ambient sound piece based on what we had recorded and some new logic pro tools.

On the 3rd week we were taught foley, which is when have a video or film and you record external sounds based on what you see on-screen. You use a microphone to record the sounds directly into your video editing software of choice and sync it to fit what you see.

Finally on the last week we were tasked to make our own projects. We had the choice as to whether we wanted to do a music piece, a sonic arts piece or a foley piece. I opted to do a music piece as I felt most comfortable doing it seeing as did music at gcse but also because I wanted to get some practise with logic again. In the end I decided to remake the opening credit music from the movie Drive which original had the track Nightcall by Kavinsky. Due to the theme of the film and the style of the original track I made a track with an 80’s essence with a lot of synth sounds and a simple drumbeat. This is the result.
