So, on our final day of college we were all given free tickets to the London Olympics being held over summer. This was due to us doing crappy stop frame animations that I won’t do you the displeasure of sharing. The upside to the project is obviously getting the tickets and an all day travel card but also the opportunity to do some filming. I decided to take my 50mm f/1.8 lens, which in hindsight wasn’t the best idea. Even though with was brilliant at getting good night shots a lot of the shoots were out of focus. Also a lot of the footage was shot while we were walking around the Olympic park / village area which made it quite shaky which I tried to fix in post. Speaking if editing even though it’s a modern time and video, I wanted to create a retro feel. I did this by using an old school song and adding some purple vibrant but washed out colour grading as well as some film grain for good measure. A big feature is I synced the footage the soundtracks snare drum with jump cuts. I think it keeps the visuals interesting and flow better. I did this mainly for the memories.
